I loved his characterisation and how quaint and naive he was.

Das Labyrinth der Träumenden Bücher by Walter Moers
Es ist wie bei einem gedruckten Satz: Walter Moers eie born in and is a writer, cartoonist, painter and sculptor. I fell in love with both the Living Books and the Booklings, who are both wonderful creatures that I’d dearly love to have as companions. When he arrives, the city rises above all his expectations.
The only thing I enjoyed tremendously about this book was the memories it brought back of my mom putting a little theater show for my sister Irene and I when we were little, and soon after my older sisters would put on plays as well.
I have an insane love for the German language and its clear sounds, the way it tastes in your mouth and the strength it possesses.
It’s a beautiful novel for people who love books and adventures, for daydreamers, idealists, optimists, people who haven’t lost their hope, but also for pessimists and people with depression because I know this is going to sound really silly, but this is the best book I’ve ever read.

We learn more from the characters backgrounds in other stories. Books by Walter Moers. Having been totally blown away from Moers first two buuecher set in the mythical lost continent of Zamonia my expectations was high for more madcap calamity in the land of living books.
Overlook TP Publication date. The ultimate book for any booklovers with a sense of humour and a love for good, exciting stories. I am certainly going to read it again.

This was bbuecher first book by Walter Moers that I read but will definitely not be the last. Read this first, first one last? Like it was a book that could have been written just for me. Auch hier steckt der Name des Ver im Namen des Buchlings.
And not because it’s “only” part 1 - that I could have handled although to be fair, I don’t understand why they didn’t advertise traeumende as such. Sono loro i veri protagonisti!! Highly recommend to anyone who loves books, as they’re really the heart of this story - both in terms of reading and writing them.
If you pick this up and glance through it, you might see the whimsical illustrations the author has added and be tempted to dismiss it as children’s literature.

At first the cover awakened my attention, a book with books on it. Beccatevi i librovori in tutta la loro tenerezza!! Everything that was on this book could have easily been squeezed and edited from pages into a neat, concise, thrilling, fast-paced yet detailed pages. Anagrams of the Famous I noticed the quirky names, but was oblivious to the fact that many are anagrams of famous people, such as: It feels like a gig Well. I eagerly await the day your next novel arrives.
Curse you, Walter Moers!
Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Write on, Moers, and make it snappy, please! May 23, Tamara Frau Kugelfisch rated it xer was ok.
The City of Dreaming Books, for example, is filled with witty literary critic, and has tons of famous authors featured, hidden behind anagrams. I can only conclude by saying that I found it deliciously readable and a lot of fun. It’s also partly just the wacky humour that made me love the characters and the story so much that I also cried for it.
