I got it the first time. Then his past catches up to him and his brother has found him and he flees before he becomes the death of her. When he’s shot in another robbery he happens upon the heroine’s old partner. The action in this story gets more intense as the story progresses. Heck, you didn’t even have to tell me Thus, the Brethren society feels very much like a strict religious cult - and at times, Lina, sxra female protagonist whom Brendon quickly befriends early in the book- suspects as much. The hero was unique.
